Leica has announced an exclusive limited edition design of its popular Q2 camera, the Leica Q2 | Disney “100 Years of Wonder”. This special edition design marks the collaboration between Leica and Disney, celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary.
Disney has been using Leica cameras and projectors since the very beginning to revolutionize the techniques of animated film. This collaboration between the two companies has been so profound that it has led to the coining of the term “Leica Reel”, a storyboard technique that combines illustrations and soundtrack.
The Leica Q2 | Disney “100 Years of Wonder” limited edition design features Mickey Mouse, Disney’s most recognizable character and one of the world’s most famous personalities, on the cover of the camera. The drawings of Mickey Mouse were penned by Don Towsley, one of Disney’s most renowned animators, in 1937, the same year when Disney started using Leica cameras and projectors to bring storyboard animations to life.
The camera is not only designed to commemorate the century-long collaboration between Leica and Disney but also to tell its user’s own stories. The limited production run of 500 cameras includes a specially designed rope strap, a dust bag in a matching design, and a certificate of authenticity.
The Leica Q2 | Disney “100 Years of Wonder” limited edition design will be available worldwide from the end of April 2023. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for collectors, Disney fans, and photography enthusiasts to own a piece of history and create their own magical stories with the camera.
