Lark Distillery has been creating world-famous whiskies in the unique environment of Tasmania for 30 years. The distillery’s esteemed makers recently released the brand’s first blended malt whisky, which almost immediately began bringing home awards.
Symphony Nº1, the blended malt, is a high-end Tasmanian single malt whisky named the Best Blended Malt Category winner at the 2022 and 2023 World Whiskies Awards. It also received the Gold as Best Blended Malt.
Lark Distillery’s Head Distiller, Chris Thomson, blends an American oak bourbon with sherry for a uniquely oily and creamy complexity of flavors. Notes of toasted pineapple, mango, vanilla, tangerine, and orange transport blended malt whisky fans to the Tasmania coastline. The palate is unlike any other whisky in the world, with a taste of sweet Tasmanian toffee-dipped apples, more mango, apricot, and peaches. It finishes with a balance of sweet fruit and acidy citrus. For Australians, Symphony Nº1 is a taste of home.
Thomson explained that the Lark Distillery team had been thinking about a blended malt for years. The result has already been a success, taking home numerous awards in less than two years. Interested whisky aficionados can purchase Symphony Nº1 on the Larks Distillery website for $150.
