Grand Seiko has been in the watchmaking business for 62 years. The Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon is proof they’re not done innovating yet. This watch, affectionately known as the Kodo, is the company’s first mechanical complication timepiece.

Kodo means “heartbeat” in Japanese, and it is a fitting name because the watch’s most innovative feature is its movement. The Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon provides unrivaled accuracy with a constant force mechanism and tourbillion that function on a single axis. The new 9ST1 caliber includes 340 components that work synchronously to remain stable and accurate for twice as long as the industry standard. It is the first of its kind.

The integrated constant-force and tourbillion create a unique look that defines the 43.8mm Grand Seiko Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon. The assimilation of the two parts makes more space in the watch to showcase its hand finishing, rubies, and the hallmark Grand Seiko sparkle.

The case features Grand Seiko’s signature Brilliant Hard Titanium and Platinum 950. Highly skilled craftsmen hand-finished and polished the case parts for an unmatchable level of quality and enduring beauty. The Grand Seiko Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon is available with a specially treated calf strap made from an ultra-durable material formerly used in Samurai armor. No part of this timepiece lacks beauty or precision. Interested buyers in this limited edition of 20 pieces, can view the Grand Seiko Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon on the company’s website but will have to await its mystery October 2022 release date.
