Few Scottish distilleries have the same level of pedigree as Glenlivet, one of the most prestigious in the industry. Founded in 1824, it’s the oldest distillery in Scotland, renowned for producing single malt whisky characterized by its complex depth of flavor and smooth finish. Over the decades, Glenlivet has released many award-winning limited editions alongside its popular core range of various aged single malts. Its latest release, the Glenlivet Rum and Bourbon Fusion Cask Selection, represents a first for the distillery, and a new step in its long and illustrious history.
Distilled in first-fill rum and bourbon barrels, it’s a whisky that delivers a unique blend of flavor profiles aimed toward the more discerning connoisseurs. The creation of this new Glenlivet selection drew on the distillery’s expertise, with their experienced coopers hand-selecting the barrels before dismantling and reassembling them ready for production.
The result is a fully-rounded whisky that blends the scent of oranges and vanilla caramel with the aroma of caramel. Fruity notes finish it off, with hints of fresh apples, peaches, and apricots lingering on the palate.
It’s a bold development for the company, with the Glenlivet Rum and Bourbon Fusion Cask Selection representing the coming together of traditional crafting and a forward-thinking approach to aging.
