VTR Customs has unveiled a bespoke BMW Motorrad R 18 called the Iron Annie. Inspired by the German Junkers Ju 52 airplane by the same nickname, the Iron Annie is based on the R 18 First Edition wearing a vintage aviation makeover.
The BMW Motorrad R 18 Iron Annie bodywork is made from aluminum featuring aviation-inspired retro rivets. Moreover, the bike’s tail corrugated aluminum planking is directly inspired by the Ju 52 aircraft. At the front, the bike’s fork has been shortened by 2.8 inches and fitted with height-adjustable Wilber shock absorbers and Magura HC3 master cylinders. The Iron Annie motorcycle sits on 18- and 21-inch wheels by Kineo.
During the bike’s customization, the 1,802cc engine and chrome components were removed and painted black. Other features include a brown saddle-inspired seat and a bespoke speedometer. Apart from the paint, the 1.8-liter engine remains stock producing 91 horsepower and 116 lb.-ft of torque. As a result, the BMW Motorrad R 18 Iron Annie can reach speeds up to 111 mph.
VTR Customs’ hard work results in a new R 18 sporting a WWII-era-inspired look. A perfect mesh of modern performance and vintage styling. The kind of motorcycle that requires a vintage leather jacket to ride.
