The BMW M2 has been lauded by many car enthusiasts as a modern day equivalent to the legendary E30 M3 — a pure driving machine that offered unadulterated levels of driving pleasure. Since then, the M3 has become more potent and powerful, offering a degree of performance that is miles beyond what the original E30 M3 was capable of, yet in the process it has lost some of its original magic.
The M2 was able to fill the void and has become the modern day enthusiast’s choice, but BMW has gone a step further and now introduces their first ever BMW M2 Competition.
Designed to offer pure motorsport performance for the road, the new M2 Competition is BMW’s M division in its purest form. For starters, the M2 Competition now comes with the 3.0-liter engine found in the M3 and M4. With less weight to move around, the new engine can propel the vehicle to 60 in 4.2 with the six-speed manual or or 4 seconds flat with the optional seven-speed dual clutch unit. More aggressive aero package, restyled wheels, larger grille, and black chrome exhaust tips give the car a more menacing and purposeful look to match the performance.
