This week, BMW’s performance division Motorsports GmbH turns 50 years old. As a result, BMW Motorrad released an anniversary package for the 2022 BMW M 1000 RR motorcycle to celebrate this momentous occasion. The anniversary variant is called the M 1000 RR 50 Years M edition and wears a striking shade of Sao Paulo Yellow paint. In addition, this M 1000 RR offers a host of M-branded performance parts like an M Endurance Chain and M GPS lap trigger. Other exclusive performance parts include an anodized aluminum rocker, the Passenger Package, and carbon fiber components.
Under the rider sits an inline four-cylinder, four-stroke engine featuring titanium valves to produce 205-hp and 83 lb.-ft of torque. A wet-sump, six-speed, constant-mesh transmission manages the engine’s power output to the rear wheel. As a premium motorcycle, it comes standard with various riding aids like cruise control, wheelie control, and seven different riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, Race Pro 1-3). Other standard equipment includes heated grips and M Lightweight Battery, and the list of standard features continues for a surprising length.
Buyers who want the performance of the 2022 BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M but don’t want a flashy yellow bike can opt for the Light White color option with the M Motorsport Competition Package. The anniversary motorcycle arrives in the U.S. later in the fall.
