Penelope Bourbon is leaning further into storytelling with its latest limited-edition release, a golf-inspired whiskey series called Architects of Golf. The collection introduces three separate expressions — Hole 1, Hole 2, and Hole 3 — each built around a four-grain straight bourbon finished with American oak staves and designed to reference the strategic nature of golf course architecture.

Bottled at 94 proof, the series uses the same core mash bill of corn, rye, wheat, and malted barley across all three releases, though each expression receives a slightly different finishing treatment. The result is a trio of bourbons with distinct flavor profiles tied together by a shared structure and theme.

Hole 1 leans toward caramel and butterscotch with layers of baking spice, while Hole 2 introduces darker notes of chocolate and sweet oak. Hole 3 moves in a slightly smokier direction, balancing vanilla sweetness with touches of charred oak. The labels themselves reference famous golf holes and course design elements, extending the collection’s architectural motif beyond the liquid.

The series also connects directly to Penelope’s origin story. Co-founder Michael Paladini reportedly conceived the idea for the brand while playing golf with his father-in-law, making the collection less of a marketing exercise and more of a return to the company’s roots.

Each bottle will retail for $59.99 and arrives later this month through select retailers across the United States. Positioned below the increasingly premium pricing common in limited whiskey releases, the collection aims to balance accessibility with enthusiast appeal.

Rather than relying solely on age statements or barrel rarity, Architects of Golf emphasizes narrative and finish-driven variation. The approach reflects a broader shift within American whiskey, where brands are increasingly pairing technical production choices with lifestyle-driven themes that resonate beyond the bottle itself.
