This year marks the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest live action-animated hybrid films ever made — Space Jam. Okay, in all honesty it may not be the cinematic tour de force that wowed audiences with Oscar-worthy performances, but its significance in pop culture has made it an endearing icon on the ‘90s. It’s greatest asset may be the fact that His Airness the silver screen, but as much as Michael Jordan’s presence dominated the screen, it was what was on his feet that grabbed the attention of sneakerheads.
Jordan debuted a new colorway of the Air Jordan XI in the film and later on court, and the Air Jordan XI Retro Space Jam has become one of the most coveted Jordan XI colorways of all time. To celebrate the iconic sneaker and the 20th anniversary of the film, the Jordan Brand is releasing a remastered edition constructed with a higher patent leather cut, subtle concord accents, and MJ’s number 45 stitched on the heel. Unlike most remastered Air Jordans, looks like the Air Jordan XI Retro Space Jam won’t be a limited release when it drops on December 10, 2016, so let’s hope that there’s no need to be anxious about whether you’ll be able to cop a pair or not.
