Nissan revealed the much-anticipated Z NISMO for 2024 this week. This top-tier performance variant of the already fun Nissan Z picks up where the Z Performance leaves off and adds more power, style, and sticker tires. But there is no manual option.
The Nissan Z Performance adds a limited-slip differential, stiffer suspension, sportier bucket seats, and bigger wheels and tires. The NISMO takes all that and throws in redesigned bodywork. More importantly, the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 gains a redesigned wastegate, enhanced cooling, and tuned ignition timing resulting in 20 extra horsepower and 34 pound-feet of torque. Plus, a larger oil cooler keeps the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO cool when setting hot laps.
The lack of a manual transmission may seem like an emotional gut punch to certain loyalists, but not to fear. Nissan went the extra mile to give the nine-speed automatic transmission a sense of true grit for the performance driving lifestyle. Tuning involved a NISMO exclusive clutch pack and a retuned engine management software. Nissan claims this helps deliver faster downshifts and more aggressive launch control.
Styling, the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO features an extended front fascia with a reworked front grille fitted with a honeycomb mesh. This grille not only adds style but also improves airflow to help cool the engine. At the back, you’ll see a three-piece rear spoiler that merges into the top of the rear quarter panels. Inside, the car features leather and faux suede Recaro bucket seats and exclusive NISMO logos. Lastly, the Z NISMO rides on gloss black 19-inch wheels wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport MAXX GT600 tires. Pricing for the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO will be announced later, but we know it’s offered in five color options and scheduled to go on sale in the fall of 2024.
