The unveiling of the 2023 Toyota Sequoia reminded us that the outgoing generation had been around since 2007. The new 2023 Toyota Sequoia sports T-shaped headlights with a wide front grille. Square, muscular fender flares spice up the SUV’s profile and end with sharp horizontal taillights. This new third-gen Toyota Sequoia design takes inspiration from the new-gen Toyota Tundra pickup truck. As a result, both vehicles bear a striking resemblance in the face.
Toyota plans to release full details of the 2023 Sequoia later in the year before being available in summer 2022. Toyota plans to offer several off-road-inspired trims and packages on the third-row SUV. For example, the TRD Sports Package can be optioned to the Sequoia’s entry-level SR5 trim, which features 20-inch wheels dressed in matte-black with Bilstein shocks and TRD-tuned springs.
Those looking for more 4×4 prowess can opt for the TRD Off-Road package, with TRD-tuned shocks, springs, and a locking rear differential with 18-inch alloy wheels. This package also features standard driver-aids like Downhill Assist Control and Multi-Terrain Select (drive modes). Top-tier trim levels include the Sequoia TRD-Pro, which adds more off-road focused driver aids and equipment like FOX shocks and an aluminum front skid plate. The recently announced 2023 Toyota Sequoia Capstone features 22-inch chrome wheels, powered running boards, chrome accents, and a top-of-the-line luxury two-tone leather interior.
The heart of the 2023 Toyota Sequoia is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with an electric motor producing 437-hp and 583 lb.-ft of torque. Monitoring the power is a 10-speed automatic transmission. As a result, this large SUV offers plenty of muscle for towing up to 9,000 lbs. By this summer, we will know if the new Toyota Sequoia has the brains, brawn, and comfort to compete in the cut-throat SUV market.
