The new 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS looks excellent on the road and stands out to the extreme, but it’s evident that its home is the track. The 4.0-liter high-revving naturally aspirated engine is a purist’s delight that howls while running 0-60 in 3.0 seconds, a 0.2-second improvement over the standard 911 GT3. This is accomplished thanks to a 518 hp that achieves a 184 mph top speed thanks to its racing DNA. Beyond the high-revving engine and lightweight construction, the cooling and aerodynamic systems set it apart.
The 911 GT3 RS weighs in at only 3,268 lbs thanks to lightweight construction measures such as the extensive use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Lightweight CFRP is also used in the interior, including the standard full bucket seats, trimmed in black leather and Race-Tex joining carbon fiber trim throughout the interior to characterize the pure, sporty vibe.
Adjustable wing elements at the front and rear of the Porsche GT3 RS allow the car to be tailored to the track while providing 900 lbs downforce at 124 mph in conjunction with other advanced aerodynamic improvements. Total downforce increases to 1,895 lbs at 177 mph leaving few worries about not making that corner at speed. Firsts for the GT3 RS include a drag reduction system to reduce drag and achieve higher speeds on the track’s straight sections. The rear wing is higher and over the car’s roofline for the first time.
For the track, the Porsche suspension is modified for less aerodynamic resistance and adjustable to fit conditions and driving style. Whether on the street, hitting some curves on mountainous roads, or ripping up the track, set this specialized beast in normal, sport, or track mode and tear it up at a starting MSRP of $225,250 and is expected to arrive in U.S. dealers by Spring, 2023.
