Since 2017, Ford has unveiled a new heritage edition Ford GT every year at the New York International Auto Show. This year, Ford is debuting the 2022 Ford GT Holman Moody Edition, the last heritage edition for the current model year. Debuting a new Ford GT in New York could be considered a tradition as it calls back to the first-ever debut of the Ford GT40 in 1964.
This latest special edition 2022 Ford GT is dressed in Holman Moody gold and red livery with Oxford white roundels. The car’s livery is designed to pay tribute to Moody’s Ford GT40 Mk II, which claimed a top-three finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. However, unlike the old GT40 Mk II, the heritage edition Ford GT is fitted with exposed carbon fiber throughout its exterior, like its front splitter, side sills, mirrors, engine louvers, and rear diffuser. In addition, the 20-inch wheels also display exposed carbon fiber.
The Holman Moody Ford GT interior sees carbon fiber seats wrapped in ebony leather with gold accent stitching. These modern bucket seats look miles more comfortable than the GT40 Mk II. Placed behind the steering wheel are a set of dual-clutch paddle shifters painted gold. The color gold can also be seen on the Ford GT’s instrument panel and seat X-brace. Ford will display the 2022 Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition at the New York International Auto Show. Ford announced the Holman Moody Edition would be produced in “ultra-limited” numbers. Those looking to own one will have to be approved Ford GT customers – a synonym for deep pockets.
