Recently added to the auction block, this 1995 Ferrari F50 Berlinetta Prototipo is a one-of-a-kind model which made history when it was unveiled nearly 25 years ago. The last Ferrari produced with a 5-digit serial number, the car used technology from the automaker’s Formula 1 V-12 engine, with a new 4.7-liter engine located right between two-cylinder units. The cast iron crankcase, titanium cylinder liners, and connecting rods gave the vehicle power extraordinaire. It reached 520 hp at 9,500 rpm with a top speed of 202 mph and acceleration that went from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds.


A road vehicle with the heart and soul of a track car, just 349 vehicles were produced over 2 years. The F50 up for auction was the original prototype, bearing serial number 99999. This model made appearances around the world, being driven by famed international test drivers. It has been owned by various car enthusiasts and collectors in Europe and the United States who have kept this fabled Ferrari in pristine condition.
