The SUV market is scorching hot with new electric, high-performance, and off-road-focused variants. But, while some wait for their new-gen SUV to be delivered, others prefer sticking to classics with a modern touch. Some people want an OG sports utility vehicle like a 1979 Ford Bronco Restomod with Bad Company looks and modern muscle under the hood.

Bring a Trailer is auctioning this 1979 Ford Bronco Restomod that underwent a modern professional restoration in 2021. The work was done by Firehouse Vintage Vehicles located in Statesville, North Carolina. From the outside, the Bronco looks like a preserved time capsule of the late 1970s. Its paintwork starts with a base of raven black then contrasts with Chromatic tape stripes to create a palette of colors that bring a Wild West sunset to mind. In addition, the vintage Bronco’s interior has been updated with red leather, climate control, a Kicker audio system, and a roll bar.

Under the hood, Firehouse Vintage Vehicles ditched the Bronco’s original carbureted V8 mill for a brand new 5.0-liter Coyote V8. Moreover, the Coyote V8 received a JLT Performance cold-air intake with tubular exhaust headers and an aluminum radiator. Managing the new power is a six-speed automatic transmission. Its off-road prowess is thanks to a dual-range transfer case, new suspension components, and upgraded brakes. The 1979 Ford Bronco Restomod stands tall with the help of 17-inch wheels dressed in BFGoodrich All-Terrain rubber.

According to the listing, the truck’s drivetrain has only clocked about 45 miles, which means this Bronco still needs to be broken in. At the time of this publication, the auction price for this updated Bronco has surpassed six figures on Bring a Trailer with less than a week before it ends.
