The 1971 Lamborghini Miura is a collector’s car that sits high on the shelf of desire, and for Lambo loyalists in the U.S., the SV is its small-batch reserve bottle. Lamborghini only built 21 Miura SV examples for the United States market in 1971, making it a rarity. RM Sotheby will be auctioning off one of these low-production models in Monaco on the 14th of May. This Lamborghini Miura SV has been completely restored and is also the poster child for its kind.
This 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV, chassis number 4884, is the same one featured on the SV brochure. It is the model Lamborghini used to photograph promotional materials. It arrived in the U.S. that same year and made its debut at the 1971 Boston Auto Show. The Miura SV’s first owner sold it in 1977 to the second owner, who kept the car until he died in 2005. Afterward, the car was sold to a third owner, who sent the Miura SV to California to undergo a complete restoration. In 2015, the current owner sent the Lamborghini Miura SV to Germany, where its V12 engine and five-speed transmission were pulled and given a complete overhaul with new parts and gaskets. Currently, the car’s odometer shows only 21,069 miles. This 51-year-old sports car has less mileage than most vehicles sitting in CarMax.
