US-based bike manufacturer Trek has announced a new bicycle aimed at novice riders looking for the best budget premium road-bike. It’s called the Trek Domane AL Disc, but just because it’s designed for an entry-level price point price point doesn’t mean it’s bare bones. The Domane AL uses aluminum construction with ultra-smooth welds that blend into creating a carbon road bike appearance. Trek gave this bike some premium add-ons from its higher trim carbon fiber models like internally routed cabling controlling the Domane’s disc brakes. The shape of the frame provides added clearance for wider road tires from the standard 32mm offered.
Buyers can choose to install 35mm wide road tires for a smoother ride. Trek designed the Domane AL Disc for the rider who values comfort over an aero riding position. They gave the Domane a short and steep profile with additional features that include the capacity to carry up to three bottles, a mounting point for a tube bento box, and a rear-bike rack mount. Pricing for the Domane AL Disc ranges from $1,050-1,800, but buyers can opt for a rim-brake model, which starts at $880.
