‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 Is Coming In June

The Umbrellas go head-to-head with the Sparrows.

Netflix has just released the official trailer for The Umbrella Academy Season 3, which will be released on June 22nd. For those who haven’t followed this popular series, The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero streaming Netflix show based on the comic book series of the same name written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. Created for Netflix by Steve Blackman and developed by Jeremy Slater, it revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an imminent apocalypse. In so doing, they go head-to-head with the Sparrow family. As showrunner Steve Blackman explains, “the Umbrellas are a family that didn’t know how to be superheroes. The Sparrows are superheroes who never knew how to be a family…That is the fundamental difference in how they go about being superheroes.”

To recap the series to date, after narrowly averting, or more accurately, running away from an apocalypse in season one, Reginald Hargreeves’ divergent family of crimefighters travels back to the 1960s. In season two, they managed to avert another apocalypse while in the 60s. This new season finds the Umbrellas have made it back to what they think is the correct timeline, only to discover the place they thought was their home is now the headquarters of The Sparrow Academy. And, guess what? They face another action-packed apocalyptic adventure! The cast features Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Cameron Britton, and Kate Walsh, among many others.
