Coming In March To Apple TV: ‘Tetris’

The true story behind one of the most popular video games of all time.

The official trailer for the much-anticipated movie Tetris promises an action-packed movie that details the historical rise of the beloved video game Tetris. Based on the true story, the film follows the unlikely history of one man’s journey into the Soviet Union to earn the rights to distribute the addictive game globally. Filled with historical accuracy, this movie tells the little-known story behind one of the most popular video games ever produced.

Starring Taron Egerton, the new Apple Original Film follows Henk Rogers’ journey starting in 1988 when he discovered Tetris. In a mission to earn the rights to distribute the Tetris game onto the Nintendo Gameboy platform, Rogers travels to the Soviet Union to meet with Tetris’ inventor Alexey Pajitnov, played by Nikkita Efremov. The two men continue on a whirlwind ride filled with action and suspense as they try to outrun the KGB officials looming throughout the country. A battle ensues between American capitalism and the Soviet’s attempt to maintain the gaming rights needed to propel their union into the modern era. The movie ‘Tetris’ is a cold-war era thriller filled with unlikely heroes, Soviet villains, and twists and turns at every juncture.

Directed by Jon S. Baird and written by Noah Pink, the film will excite historians and action lovers worldwide. This Apple Original Film has multiple notable producers, including Executive Producer Iain MacKenzie, Matthew Vaughn, Len Blavatnik, Gillian Berrie, Gregor Cameron, and Claudia Vaughn. The new Tetris movie will be released on March 31, 2023, and will stream exclusively on the Apple TV platform.
