The Sony Cinema Line Full-frame FR7 PTZ Interchangeable Lens Camera is the brand’s newest addition to its cinema line. Sony combined the latest imaging technology and remote-controlled robotics to create the world’s first full-frame interchangeable lens pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) camera. The company says this camera is perfect for episodic drama, reality shows, and cooking shows. PTZ cameras are also excellent for event spaces, including concert and wedding venues. The ILME-FR7 Full-frame PTZ interchangeable lens camera looks identical to the FX6 camera. It features a full-frame 10.3-megapixel sensor with 15+ stops, ISO performance from ISO 800, and it supports formats up to 120p at 4K and high-quality 4K 60p via HDMI and SDI.
Additionally, the FR7 camera – boasts Sony’s autofocus technology, including real-time eye-AF and tracking, always keeping subjects in focus. However, the camera uses manual or pre-programmed functions to track using the PTZ function to follow subjects and pan and tilt. It can also capture audio via XLR microphones. The camera provides a smooth pan tilt zoom operation, as slow as 0.02 degrees per second up to around 60 degrees per second. The pan angle ranges from -170 degrees to 170 degrees, the tilt angle between -30 and + 195 degrees, and -210 to 15+ degrees when suspended from a ceiling mount. Sony also built a web app interface with a smart screen design and intuitive operation. The ILME-FR7 Full-frame PTZ interchangeable lens camera will be available at the end of November.
