Saturdays NYC has always been one for putting their stamp on functional yet cool menswear and accessories. Yet their latest collaboration with Porter, one of Japan’s most prominent bag makers, cements their role as a purveyor of stylish goods.
The Saturdays NYC x Porter Commuter Pack is the latest project in the brand’s longstanding partnership with Porter. The Commuter Pack: Subway Series is a collection of three essential shapes geared for a seasoned traveler — a tote bag, boston bag, and a rucksack. Each bag is constructed out of ultra-lightweight 100 percent nylon fabric giving it both durability and water repellent capabilities.
When the bags aren’t in use, they can simply be folded down and packed into an accompanying small square pouch, or clipped onto other luggage with an included carabiner. To meet the needs of rushed and often crowded public transport, the bags are designed to be compact and adaptable. The bags can be used in the day to day or can be conveniently dropped into another bag or hooked onto some luggage to provide emergency storage if the situation arises.
Named for New York’s famous Subway system, the bags were inspired by the daily commute in the Big Apple. Each piece in the collection is designated by a colored dot which references the colors of the trains that connect Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and the Mets’ Citi Field in Queens.
