When Porsche released their excellent track focused GT3, many lamented the lack of a third pedal. Without an option to row your own gears, driving purists were let down by what seemed like their last hope in an era where manual gearboxes are becoming an endangered species.

Maybe the driving gods that heard their prayers, as Porsche has released their newest 911 iteration, made specifically for driving purists. Dubbed the 911 R, the newest Porsche is a track focused car, but also usable for daily driving, which probably means that you will most likely only drive it to the track and back. It’s basically a lighter and more focused version of the GT3 with a manual gearbox, but without the boy racer spoiler and bodykit. With a limited run of 911 units, the combination of the car’s exclusivity and manual transmission should make it a hot commodity for driving purists.
