Leaner and meaner, Chevrolet unveils the 2017 Camaro ZL1 ahead of next week’s New York Auto Show reveal. The previous Camaro was never slow by any standard, but was plagued by some traits that made the car feel distinctly American. This time around, Chevy is determined to bring the Camaro ZL1 up to world class standards, with better quality, performance, and design.
The 2017 Camaro ZL1 houses a supercharged V8 that pumps out 640hp (477 kW) and 640 lb-ft of torque (868 Nm). Lighter by almost 200 lbs compared to its predecessor, Chevy seems to be committed to bringing world class performance that should be more agile than before. No performance figures have been released yet, but we can only imagine that 0-60 will be somewhere in the sub 4.0 seconds range, given that the old model had already established that figure. Judging from its aggressive exterior and striking interior design, we can only imagine that this added performance will make the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 an enticing option for performance junkies.
