Red Wing’s archives contain more than work boots. A 1927 catalog listed the Number 404 golf oxford, and the Red Wing Heritage x Malbon Moc Oxford brings that forgotten chapter back after more than 70 years away from the course.

The collaboration starts with Red Wing’s low-cut Shop Moc Oxford rather than disguising a modern foam sneaker. Its full-grain Oro Legacy leather comes from the brand-owned S.B. Foot Tanning Company and is designed to darken and develop patina with use. The shoe is built on Red Wing’s roomy Number 23 last, leaving more space through the forefoot and instep than many narrow performance golf shoes.

Malbon’s functional contribution appears underfoot. A spikeless Traction Tred wedge outsole uses a more aggressive lug pattern than the standard Shop Moc Oxford, adding grip on turf without making the shoe awkward inside the clubhouse. Goodyear leather welt construction allows the sole to be replaced, an unusual advantage in a category dominated by cemented synthetic footwear. That long-service approach also connects naturally with Red Wing’s broader heritage footwear.
