Cloud gaming has come a long way over the past few years, and Razer’s new Edge handheld shows just how good a game streaming experience can be. The handheld is really two pieces in one: a tablet and its Kishi V2 Pro controller cradle.

The tablet pairs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM for zippy performance. 128GB of storage should have most gamers covered, considering the unit is primarily meant for streaming games from Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Steam Link. The tablet’s 6.8-inch FHD Plus (2,400 x 1080) AMOLED display features a 144Hz refresh rate that helps ensure the action stays crisp.

Also included with the Razer Edge is the USB-C powered Kishi V2 Pro controller. Kishi’s V2 is already available today, but the Pro version – available only with the Edge – adds haptic feedback and a coveted 3.5mm jack that keeps gaming sessions private.

By design, the Razer Edge doesn’t support messaging, phone, or social media apps, but it does have a camera for streaming game sessions and jump-scare reactions on Twitch. $5 reserves one, but the full price is $400 for the standard Wifi-only Edge and $500 for the Founders’ Edition, which includes a set of Razer Hammerhead True Wireless buds. Verizon will offer a 5G-capable version later this year for true on-the-go game streaming.
