Disney+ Unveils The First “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Teaser Trailer

“Between darkness and defeat, hope survives.”

Star Wars fans have reason to rejoice. Disney+ has released its first teaser trailer for the upcoming six-episode Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action series. Disney+ will release the new adventure on May 25th, the iconic date that represents the 45th anniversary of the original Star Wars that was released back in 1977.

Reprising his role as Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi for the series is Ewan McGregor. The series will pick up after the end of Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith and follows the Jedi after the fall of the Republic and before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. The teaser trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi gives us a glimpse into the Jedi’s life on Tatooine as he avoids the Empire and protects a young Luke Skywalker. According to the synopsis posted on StarWars.com: “Since being forced into hiding after Order 66, Kenobi has been lying low, down and out on Tatooine, dealing with the trauma of the annihilation of many in the Jedi Order and losing his faith after his friend and former student, Anakin, fell to the darkness and helped give rise to the Empire.”

While we don’t see Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader in this trailer, it is anticipated that we will see his return in the final trailer which should come next month. In addition to McGregor and Christensen, the show will also feature Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton returning as Luke Skywalker’s uncle Owen Lars, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. Deborah Chow, who directed several of The Mandalorian episodes, will be at the helm of this new series.
