Nintendo never fails to disappoint, and they’re starting 2018 strong with the release of the Nintendo Labo. These cardboard building kits combine the digital power of the Nintendo Switch with significantly more analog directions to build customized DIY creations. With Nintendo Labo, you start with a piece of cardboard but end up with a 13-key piano, a fishing pole, a motorbike, and much more. Each one is brought to life by your Nintendo Switch console as you perform a recital, catch a fish, or finish a race.
The concept aims to make building just as much fun as playing. Each project comes with step-by-step instructions and the paper to construct them. Once completed, just connect your Nintendo Switch with the included software and enjoy. Each project promotes greater understanding of mechanics and engineering and the opportunity to find alternative ways to play.
The first iteration of Nintendo Labo begins with a five-project Variety Kit to construct RC cars, a fishing rod, a house, motorbike, or piano, while the Robot Kit allows you to build a fully functional, life-size robot suit complete with reflective stickers and canvas straps.
