Many audiophiles prefer to listen to their music on vinyl records, finding that the audio quality is warmer as compared to digital formats, such as CDs or streaming services. While records take up more storage space than CDs and people can’t listen to them while out and about, there’s something to be said for the tactile experience of handling a record album and flipping a record to hear side B. Vinyl fans have a reason to rejoice now, with the release of the new Naim Audio Solstice, the brand’s first turntable which is produced in collaboration with Clearaudio for a limited edition offering of 500 examples.
The Solstice is a belt-driven turntable featuring a hand-built Aro Mk2 tonearm, phono stage, and power supply by Naim, with Clearaudio’s expertise on the deck, arm, and cartridge. The turntable itself further boasts some pretty serious tech, like multiple levels of mechanical decoupling, a magnetic bearing supporting a high-mass, highly polished (super thick!) aluminum platter, and a unique, self-calibrating motor drive system. Purchasers of the Naim Audio Solstice will receive a custom accessory set to commemorate the occasion. The set includes a special book, and an eight-track vinyl record with True Stereo’s remastered recordings to model the amazing sound produced by the turntable. Naim’s Solstice will be available for purchase later in July.
