The Austrian company, Lomography, produces photography products that cater to the art world. Film shooters will be excited to learn that the company will relaunch its popular LomoChrome Turquoise XR 100-400 speed film next year. First introduced in 2014 by Lomography, the film is noted for producing photographs that elicit a particular mood, often with an element of fantasy. Lomography’s turquoise-hued film transforms everyday colors into shades of emerald and turquoise and changes blue skies to a warm golden/orange color.
In 1984, the 35mm LOMO LC-A Compact Automat camera began mass-production in Russia and its popularity soon spread to other communist countries. A favorite camera for art photographers for years, it eventually gained worldwide popularity among artists. The Austrian founders of the company, Lomography, said they were “charmed by the unique, colorful, and sometimes blurry” images that the camera produced and was therefore inspired to carry the film. Lomography plans to release its LomoChrome Turquoise film in June of 2022. The film still uses standard C-41 chemical developer, so it can be handled by most photo labs. It will be available in 35mm, 120 (medium format) and for the very first time, 110 format. Each format is available for purchase in bundles of 5 or 10 rolls/cartridges and can be preordered now through Lomography.
