From his days as the protégé of Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo through the founding of his own eponymous fashion label to his outstanding collaborations with giants such as Levis, Carhartt, Nike, and Converse, Junya Watanabe has certainly come a long way. The latest partnership between Junya Watanabe and New Balance served to unify Watanabe’s recent SS19 fashion show.
The majority of runway models for this show wore Watanabe’s unique take on the classic New Balance CT400 Sneaker. Sporting a vibrant yet elegant light grey and bright white colorway, this super lightweight leather and mesh sneaker features snug padded collars and signature designer emblems on a shoe that somehow manages to maintain a streamlined silhouette with tastefully uncluttered surfaces. For added comfort and durability, the Junya Watanabe x New Balance CT400 Sneaker rests on gripped rubber soles of pure Vibram.
