The new INSTAX mini 12, Fujifilm’s new update to their bestselling mini 11 instant cameras, will remind many of the fun they had with their parents’ old cameras when they were kids. With the fast-developing INSTAX photo film, this chunky instant camera’s intuitive controls make it a clear choice for the best new instant camera for most. The simple pieces fit together beautifully with a clear purpose: making the easiest-to-use, least complicated camera for users of all skill levels.

The Fujifilm INSTAX mini 12 is a throwback to the age when sharing a quick snapshot with your friends meant pulling the developing film out of the camera and waiting for a minute and a half (its development time is 90 seconds). The colors and shapes of your photo then evolve out of gray nothingness. Its bulky, rounded shape and eye-pleasing pastel colors give it an instant people-pleasing look. It’s easy and comfortable to hold. The mini 12 user-controlled closeup mode with a front-mounted shutter button and selfie mirror makes it easy to frame yourself and your friends for instant moments. If you’re in the mirror, you’re in the shot!

With a flash range of 0.7 to 2.2 meters, the INSTAX mini 12 presents a unique opportunity for new photographers to sharpen their skills on unusual targets and encourages people to think about their snapshots. For the experience of a camera with a handful of well-chosen features and no frills, the INSTAX mini 12 is a new experience of approaching something old. With five colors to choose from – Pastel Blue, Mint Green, Blossom Pink, Lilac Purple, and Clay White – the camera will be available in mid-March to purchase for $80.
