Gucci has long been known as a fashion trend setter, but the Maison’s slew of recent collaborations has really set it apart from the pack. The latest Gucci x The North Face Collaboration is the second chapter following their initial collaboration in 2020. The new collection was introduced in a campaign conceived by Alessandro Michele, creative director of Gucci, and shot on the Nordic vistas of Iceland by Jalan and Jibril Durimel.
The unique setting of volcanic sand, rolling green hills, and crystal glaciers provides an enticing backdrop to showcase the collection’s contemporary outerwear, such as vests and bomber jackets festooned in the classic GG monogram and The North Face logo. While other pieces, drawn from a back catalog of styles from the 1970s, have been reimagined and updated with technologies from The North Face, such as ultralight bonded construction and transfer printing on nylon bases.
Given Gucci’s propensity for creating covetable, ubiquitous accessories, particular attention is paid to a selection of co-branded bags, footwear, and accessories. To mark both brands’ approach to sustainability, the collection makes heavy use of ECONYL®, a regenerated nylon fabric. Additionally, all of the down used in each piece is certified according to the Responsible Down Standard by Control Union.
