It’s a product of the legendary Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, founded by noted whisky makers John Robertson & Sons in 1897. For decades, the distillery delivered whiskies abundant in nutty, fruity flavors, and the 1981 offering is no exception.

Aging in a refill sherry hogshead cask, this whisky matured for 38 years in the Gordon & MacPhail warehouse in Elgin in Scotland’s northeast. With a distinctive mahogany hue, It tastes like a rich fruitcake with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, sherry-soaked cherries, with slightly nutty hints of licorice and oak. The long finish evolves into leather with a hint of smoke.
