After a year-long delay, the release of “Godzilla vs. Kong” is finally right around the corner. HBO Max just released the official trailer for the highly anticipated new film, which is the fourth installment in Legendary Entertainment’s “Monsterverse” franchise after “Godzilla,” “Kong: Skull Island,” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The first official trailer lets fans of the two iconic monsters have glimpses into the ultimate fight between the title characters. “Godzilla vs. Kong” marks the second time the two have shared the big screen. The first time they battled was in the 1962 Japanese film “King Kong vs. Godzilla.” The official website for the latest film provides some insight into the storyline of the movie by stating, “In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages.”
Chronologically, “Godzilla vs. Kong” takes place immediately after the events of “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.” The new film tracks the story of Kong and his protectors traveling to find his home. The trailer provides a heart-stopping sneak peek into this perilous mission. Along the way, they cross paths with Godzilla and a destructive, global battle ensues. In it, we see the two ferocious creatures battling it out as their human friends and foes both contribute to and attempt to stop the calamity. The film stars Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler from “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” alongside Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, and Jessica Henwick. Look for “Godzilla vs. Kong” in theaters and on HBO Max on March 26th.
