Girard-Perregaux has revealed the second watch in its partnership with Aston Martin, the Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition. This new 42mm chronograph cleverly uses the ‘Aston Martin Green’ signature colorway, which was achieved by applying seven layers, to provide a sense of depth to the dial. The automotive influence is also reflected on the dial with the addition of the diamond crosshatch design used for the stitching of the quilted upholstery found in the British brand’s many high-performance race cars.
The chronograph’s octagonal bezel pays tribute to Girard-Perregaux’s iconic Laureato of 1975. The case of the Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition and bracelet are machined from 904L stainless steel, which is actually the same alloy Rolex used for its steel watches before adopting the Oystersteel name. The very first Laureato Chronograph to feature an exhibition sapphire crystal caseback, owners will delight to find the automatic in-house Calibre GP03300-0141 chronograph movement and the Aston Martin logo on display.
Commenting on the two brands’ partnership, Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Girard-Perregaux said, “Not only has our partnership with Aston Martin yielded two exceptional timepieces now, it is indeed a meeting of the minds and marks the beginnings of a true friendship between both brands and our teams. The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin edition is evidence of that mutual understanding and shared philosophy.” Earlier this year, we saw the debut of the strikingly masculine Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon With Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition, which was limited to just 18 pieces. The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition will be limited to 188 pieces.
