Deckers x Lab has just dropped its KO-Z MULE, an interesting take on a slip-on, open-back clog made for use both inside and outside the house. Deckers x Lab was founded by Jean-Luc Diard, former CEO of Solomon and co-founder of Hoka One One. With his background in apparel and creating ultra-comfortable footwear, he brings a wealth of experience to Deckers x Lab. The KO-Z MULE combines premium materials with a five-layer foam midsole to tout itself as “the most comfortable and technologically advanced slipper out there.” The upper is made out of Twinface Sheepskin and suede leather panels, with just a little bit of stretch at the opening so one can easily step right in. Securing it is a foothold with wooden toggles, a detail that won’t affect how it feels but worth noting nonetheless.
The footbed of the KO-Z MULE has looped wool layered on top of 5 layers of foam with the softest memory foam found closest to the sole of the foot. The memory foam takes on the foot’s shape and provides a cushion as well as stability. With the addition of a rocker in the midfoot and an extended squaretail heel, the KO-Z MULE stays firmly on the foot with every step. The ultralight sponge rubber outsole brings durability and grip so you can wear these wherever your day takes you – be it indoors or outside.
