The Canyon Future Mobility Concept is an electric bicycle that offers all-weather protection like an electric car. It is a lightweight electric quad-cycle with a fully enclosed capsule to protect riders from the elements. This capsule also provides additional storage space and board children, but still works like an electric bicycle. You pedal to move forward, and the onboard battery and the electric motor offers pedal-assistance when needed.

The Canyon Future Mobility Concept was developed in collaboration with the Aachen University of Technology. The idea came about from the recent increase in electric cyclists in major cities. The problem with using an electric bicycle is being exposed and at the mercy of the seasons. With the Canyon’s Future Mobility Concept, riders can use the vehicle on the road and bike lane. The capsule slides open on rails like the cockpit in a fighter jet. It can remain open during clear sunny days like a convertible. The seating position is similar to a recumbent bike. The rider sits back in a reclined position with two-joysticks on either side to control the steering. According to Canyon, the Future Mobility Concept can travel at an approximate top speed of 37 mph and projects and an estimated 93 miles of range. This is like a pedal-car for adults, and if you ever had one as a child, you know how fun they are.
