Cadillac has a respectable motorsport pedigree going back decades. Fans may remember or heard of the Cadillac Series 61 prototype dubbed “Le Monstre” that raced in the 1950 24 Hours of Le Mans. In anticipation of its official unveiling on June 9, Cadillac has released a short video highlighting its new GTP Hypercar.
The new Cadillac race car is built to meet IMSA and ACO regulations. It will compete in the Grand Touring Prototype class at the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Cadillac’s teaser video of the GTP Hypercar previews the front of the car. It allows us to see the race car’s forged carbon fiber front splitter and painted Cadillac crest on its nose. Razor blades seem to be the source of inspiration for this race car, as every detail is shaped with a sharp slicing edge. In addition, Cadillac is not the only manufacturer debuting a new race car. On June 6, BMW plans to debut its GTP race car to rival Cadillac at the Rolex 24. Other entries filling the GTP grid for next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans include Porsche, Toyota, Peugeot, Ferrari, Acura, Lamborghini, Audi, and Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus. Performance specs on the Cadillac GTP Hypercar will be provided on June 9 during its unveiling.
