Released to coincide with the start of its namesake race, the Bravur La Vuelta Chronograph 2022 Edition is another love letter to the sport of cycling from Bravur founders Magnus Äppelryd and Johan Sahlin. Nearly every element of this timepiece is a reference to cycling or the Vuelta a España itself, right down to the distinctive red coloring. Sure, it looks ultra-clean against the silver-white dial, but the color is also inspired by La Roja – the red jersey worn by the Vuelta’s leader. The flamme rouge, a triangular flag that marks the final kilometer of a race, adorns the watch’s 12H-spot, while the upside-down 13 peeking out near 3 o’clock’s 15-minute interval counter nods to the tradition of inverting bib 13 to avoid bad luck.
Even the watch’s size itself – 38.2mm diameter – has been carefully selected to establish a formidable presence on the wrist without getting in the way of important bike stuff. After your century ride, impress other cyclists with the Swiss-made Sellita SW511b movement visible through the sapphire case back, itself etched with a finish line pattern. It’s an appropriate touch, as bike and watch fans will have to move fast to snag one: the Swedish watchmaker’s only making 50 of these individually-numbered timepieces.
