Scientists expect the ocean to house 29 million metric tons of plastic trash by 2040. There are numerous ways humans and businesses can help, and designer Tom Ford is doing his part. “In my opinion, ethical luxury is the greatest luxury of all,” he once remarked. The Tom Ford 004 Ocean Plastic Watch is an example of Ford living up to his word. The watch case, signature strap, and packaging are 100 percent ocean plastic. Like other products in the Tom Ford Ocean Plastic collection, the 004 includes 32 bottles of plastic waste. This luxury timepiece also honors the ocean with its woven strap that is nautical in nature.
The Tom Ford 004 Ocean Plastic Watch features a quartz movement, a PVD-plated stainless steel case back, and a PVD-plated stainless steel crown. The 004 is available in black or white. The former offers a glassy black dial with contrasting white hands, and the latter features a glossy white dial with black hands. Both possess a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, allowing wearers to view the time above or below the water’s surface. The watch sports a signature braid white or black strap engineered and woven out of 100 percent ocean plastic with a stainless steel buckle plated PVD. The Tom Ford 004 Ocean Plastic Watch and other pieces of the Ocean Plastic collection are available on the Tom Ford website.
