Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow Confronts Her Past In The Upcoming Film’s Official Trailer

In a telling statement, Black Widow declares, “One thing’s for sure: I’m done running from my past.”

For the first time ever, a Marvel movie is premiering on Disney+ the same day it hits theaters. ‘Black Widow’ has been delayed since the spring of 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, but it is finally opening in theaters on July 9th. For those who may not be ready to return to the theater by then, they are also making it available that same day on Disney+ with its “Premier Access.” The official trailer shows Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, confronting her tumultuous past and mending old relationships, all while being pursued by an invincible villain.

While battling the villain, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. We are treated to a number of flashbacks from her childhood in her native Russia which help clarify Black Widow’s history. The cast includes Florence Pugh who plays Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. ‘Black Widow’ — the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is directed by ‘Berlin Syndrome’ director Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige. The forthcoming feature film takes place after the events of ‘Captain America: Civil War.’
