Men have been infatuated with flying since they’ve first gazed upon the sky. We’ve all had dreams of flying, where we struggle to float off of the ground for a measly few inches as we flap our arms like wings (some also do the Superman) just to find the experience disappointing and eventually wake up. Airplanes are allowing men to fly around the globe, but that still doesn’t scratch our itch to truly fly like a bird.
Maybe that’s why the folks at SOMNIACS have developed Birdly, a VR full-body experience that simulates the ultimate freedom of a bird exploring the skies. The rather basic setup looks a bit like a chair at the dentist’s office with a fan attached to it, but once you’re plugged in and wearing the VR headset, you’d be none the wiser as it takes you through the skies of Manhattan in a surprisingly immersive experience.
