Motorsports and timepieces have been inseparable since the first day men started obsessing about speed. Autodromo is a watch company that embodies this relationship between time keeping and racing, by crafting unique timepieces that express the spirit of motoring. Their latest creation, the Monoposto Chronograph, which literally means “single seat,” harkens back to the simpler times of Grand Prix racing, when the driving experience was dictated by the driver’s talent and instincts rather than the intricate and advanced racing machines of today.
The Monoposto Chronograph is a reinterpretation of the 2012 Monoposo. While it’s not a rerelease of the same design, it borrows many signature design touches that made the original solidify Autodromo’s legacy. The signature “redline” crystal takes inspiration from the strip of red tape engineers would apply on the rev counter so that their drivers would know the engine’s limit at a glance, while the leather strap and roller buckle are also designed to evoke the leather bonnet straps of the era. Limited to 500 pieces with 200 black dials, 200 silver dials, and 100 in Azzurro, each timepiece comes individually numbered in a collector’s box.
