This week, the Apple iPad & iPad Pro (10th Generation) were revealed, with a new design and significant enhancements to previous models. The new iPad features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display and is powered by the A14 Bionic chip, featuring 20% faster performance and 10% graphics processor improvement over previous generations. The chip also has a better power utilization curve, leading to all-day battery life.
Matching 12MP front and back cameras allow HD video recording with the front camera located along the landscape edge for better FaceTime calls and Zoom meetings. For the first time, Apple has placed the stereo speakers to reflect video watching in landscape orientation. A new USB-C port supports various accessories, and Wi-Fi 6 increases connection speed capacity. For cellular models, a 5G modem ensures the fastest accessibility. Designed for the new iPad, accessories like the Magic Keyboard Folio allow easy typing and trackpad use, while note-taking and drawing are supported with Apple Pencil (2nd Generation) integration.
The new iPad Pro is available in 10-inch and 12.9-inch models. It features a next-level Apple Pencil (2nd Generation) hover experience, superfast connectivity, and the new M2 chip, an 8-core CPU, 15% faster than the M1. In addition, a 10-core graphics processor delivers up to 35% faster graphics performance.
The new operating system iPadOS 16 also features ‘Stage Manager’ – a new multitasking experience that organizes apps and windows, making it easy to switch between tasks. An update due out later this year will provide full external display support, allowing four apps to run on the iPad and four on an external monitor.
The new standard iPad features an all-screen design in four finishes — blue, pink, yellow, and silver, and will be available in stores beginning Wednesday, October 26th, with preordering now available online from the Apple Store. The standard iPad is available in 64GB and 256GB models with pricing starting at $449 with a $150 upgrade price to add cellular. The iPad Pro comes in two finishes – Space Gray and Silver – and starts at $799 for the 11-inch model and $1,099 for the 12.9-inch model. Buyers will pay $200 more for cellular access.
