Unless you’re a hardcore car enthusiast, chances are you’ve never heard of Alpine, a brand famous for producing racing and sports cars with rear-mounted Renault engines. Understandably so, since the brand has had limited presence outside of its native France and ceased production in 1995. That’s all about to change with the brand relaunching in 2017, starting with the Alpine A110.
Set to be officially revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show on March 7, the Alpine A110 will usher in a new era for the sports car brand, now a part of Renault. The vehicle is slated to challenge the likes of the Alfa Romeo 4C and Porsche 718 Cayman, with its “timeless principles of compact size, light weight and agility.” Limited to 1,955 examples — a number that commemorates the founding year of the brand — Alpine will be releasing the Premier Edition, with deliveries starting from 2018.
