Airstream and REI have again joined forces to create a special edition camper trailer. This new model is called the Co-op Basecamp 20X. It offers the space and convenience of all-terrain travel with room for up to four people.
The trailer’s 20-foot floor plan includes a convertible dinette area and a rear hatch for easy access to gear. This hatch can also provide access to the in-floor cooler, which doubles as a potential storage space for wet gear.
The special edition model comes standard with the X Package. This off-road package adds a three-inch suspension lift kit and Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires. Other equipment includes stainless steel stone guards at the front and an L-track storage system suitable for carrying gear like mountain bikes and kayaks.
Inside, off-the-grid amenities include a recirculating water heater, a UV-LED water purification system, and an available composting toilet. Larger holding tanks and an optional 360-watt solar package with a 200AH lithium-ion battery are available. Moreover, the Airstream REI Co-op special edition Basecamp 20X only weighs 3,500 pounds. For perspective, the compact Ford Maverick pickup truck offers a max towing capacity of 4,000 pounds (with the optional towing package).
