The sense of smell is linked to emotion and memory stronger than any other sense. Iconic British, designer, artist, and creative Samuel Ross, founder of A-COLD-WALL*, recently collaborated with Italian fragrance company Acqua di Parma to spark emotion in fragrance aficionados across England, Italy, and around the world.
Acqua di Parma Colonia perfume is iconic for its pleasing notes of crisp citrus and warm woods. It’s a scent that is synonymous with luxurious Italian living. It has always been sought after, and Samuel Ross just made it even more desirable.
This limited edition collection features the same Colonia scent (if it’s not broken, don’t fix it) in exclusive bottles designed by Samuel Ross. It’s a perfume that’s as pleasing to the sense of sight as it is to the sense of smell.
Ross drew his inspiration from urban planning principles that shaped cities, particularly London and Milan, over the last seven decades. He combined inspiration from unique industrial staples, like scaffolding and advertising. Then, he considered how the sun plays an active role in European architecture.
The result is a series of three art-deco bottles that emit a sun-like glow when held up to the light. The varying colors and their packaging represent the concepts of eccentricity, optimism, and urgency, three terms Ross believes identify British and Italian modernism.
Acqua di Parma Colonia perfume has always been a status symbol, but Samuel Ross’ contribution sets the Colonia Numbered Edition far above the company’s traditional bottle. Three-hundred special-edition collector’s bottles are now available via Selfridges, London, and on the Acqua di Parma website. One hundred limited edition bottles will be sold only via Selfridges, starting on March 15.
