Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the new AMG C43 sedan following the news of the four-cylinder AMG SL. This new variant will feature the same M139I-code turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 48-Volt electrics but with some additional tuning unique to the C43. For starters, the AMG C43 offers a power bump compared to the AMG SL. The 2023 Mercedes-AMG C43 produces 402-hp and 367 lb.-ft of torque using a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system.
The new Mercedes-AMG C43 sedan features a more aggressively styled front bumper with chrome-plated trim. At the back, the AMG C43 offers a “diffuser-look” with a rear apron and exhales through twin exhaust pipes. A unique “Turbo Electrified” badge adorns the car’s front fenders. Entry-level models come standard with 18-inch wheels, but optional 19-inch and 20-inch are available. Handling is tasked with adaptive dampers and a geometry steering rack at the front with rear-wheel steering (available for the first time). In addition, buyers can option the C43’s adaptive exhaust system with the AMG Real Performance Sound package. This offers an audio system that electronically funnels the engine’s exhaust note into the cabin.
The interior of the 2023 Mercedes-AMG C43 features AMG bucket seats dressed in Artico faux leather and microfiber with red stitching and seat belts. A flat-bottom steering wheel aligns with the AMG C43’s performance-focused DNA. Pricing has not been announced, but the new Mercedes-AMG C43 will go on sale later this year.
