Kia has unveiled the latest generation of its compact Sportage CUV. The new Kia Sportage was introduced as an international, European-spec version which will go on sale in September 2021. When Kia officially introduces this Sportage later, it will bear the 2023 model year moniker. Kia did not disclose engine specifications on the 2023 Kia Sportage, but here’s what is known.
Press photos show the 2023 Kia Sportage wearing a stylish, sharp exterior design. It sports a dynamic black mesh grille with boomerang headlamps at both ends. This new Sportage has sharpened its profile, a different approach from the outgoing model, with flowing lines and a curved body. According to Kia, the Sportage can be equipped with a black roof for a two-tone color effect. At the rear, the new 2023 Sportage flexes a faux skid plate and ventilated rear bumper. Inside the new Kia Sportage, the gear selector is part of a redesigned center console. Press photos also show a fully digital instrument cluster and widescreen infotainment system.
A sportier Sportage X-Line variant will offer a revised front bumper and black painted exterior accents. The Sportage X-line interior includes black metal and wood trim with available sage green or black quilted upholstery. No word as to when Kia will introduce the Sportage in North America, but we assume it will be late 2021.
