Last year, Yamaha revealed the Tenere 700 Raid prototype at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. This Dakar-inspired concept motorcycle featured an extensive catalog of performance parts from GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing). Now, it is confirmed that the Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid prototype is going into production. The new 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid will be a showroom model alongside the standard Tenere.

Currently, Yamaha has not released official specifications on the 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid. Moreover, the production model will be slightly toned down from the competition-focused prototype. The Raid will share the chassis, forks, brakes, and wheels with the standard Terena 700 bike. However, the Tenere 700 Raid will include a larger gas tank with twin filler caps to increase its travel range. This new gas tank alters the look of the motorcycle. The sides of the tank are wider and extend further down. In addition, the Yamaha Tenere Raid receives a new remote reservoir rear shock and a new steering damper.

Other enhanced details include a taller windscreen, wider wind deflectors, and wider footpegs. Instruments are displayed on a larger TFT screen. Yamaha confirms the Raid will offer handlebar controls to operate the available cruise control and a thumbwheel to navigate the menu. The 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid is expected to arrive at dealers later in the year.

In case you missed it, Yamaha is releasing the 2022 Yamaha TMAX in March of 2022.
